Warrington hooker Micky Higham will make his comeback after a three-month absence in the Challenge Cup final against Huddersfield on Saturday.

Higham starts on the bench, as does forward Tyrone McCarthy, 20, who will make his third senior appearance after being selected ahead of Paul Rauhihi.

Vinnie Anderson will play at stand-off for the first time this season.

Martin Aspinwall starts from the bench for Huddersfield as replacement for injured second rower Danny Kirmond.

Simon Finnigan had also been in contention for what is the only change to the Giants 17 from the team that defeated St Helens in their semi-final.

Aspinwall was a winger at former club Wigan but has been converted into a forward and Huddersfield coach Nathan Brown said: "His form has been really good in the back row and he also gives us flexibility."

It had been thought that Andy Raleigh could replace the injured Kirmond but the former Hull KR player is short of match fitness, having only just returned from an eight-week lay-off with an Achilles problem.

Warrington coach Tony Smith has opted to go with Higham after fellow hooker Jon Clarke failed to recover from an ankle injury.

Teams for Carnegie Challenge Cup final:

Huddersfield: B Hodgson (capt); Cudjoe, Lolesi, Whatuira, D Hodgson; Brown, Robinson; Mason, Moore, Griffin, Fulton, Wild, Faiumu.
Subs: Crabtree, Jackson, Lunt, Aspinwall.

Warrington: Mathers; Riley, King, Bridge, Hicks; V Anderson, Briers; Morley (capt), Monaghan, Carvell, L Anderson, Westwood, Harrison.
Subs: Cooper, Johnson, Higham, McCarthy.

Referee: Steve Ganson (St Helens).

Warrington are set to welcome back Garreth Carvell, hooker Jon Clarke and centre Simon Grix after they missed last week's 36-16 defeat at Wigan.

Tyrone McCarthy keeps his place following an encouraging debut along with Kevin Penny and Steve Pickersgill.

Wakefield are without scrum-half Danny Brough through suspension and prop Ricky Bibey with a shoulder injury.

Captain Jason Demetriou has pulled out with a viral injection but Dale Ferguson is back from illness.

Warrington assistant coach James Lowes told

We need two points as we want to be involved in the play-offs and it's going to go down to the wire.

"We just feel if we can get the points and we've got two home games left and if we can get those points and then go to Hull KR and nick something there, then hopefully we've down our little bit."

Warrington (from): L Anderson, V Anderson, Bridge, Briers, Carvell, Clarke, Cooper, Grix, Johnson, Mathers, McCarthy, Mitchell, Monaghan, Morley, Penny, Pickersgill, Rauhihi, Riley, Westwood.

Wigan include captain Sean O'Loughlin and Phil Bailey in their squad for Saturday's sold-out Challenge Cup semi-final after both recovered from injury.

O'Loughlin has been out for four weeks with a knee injury and Bailey missed two games with a dead leg. Darrell Goulding (dislocated shoulder) is out.

Warrington are without ex-Warriors winger Brian Carney, who broke his arm against Leeds, as well as Simon Grix.

Chris Riley will replace Carney, while Matt King also returns.

Riley, 21, was dropped for Saturday's Super League match against Leeds after playing 15 games in a row.

"Chris was probably a bit unlucky to miss out last week," said Wolves coach Tony Smith.

"He handled it professionally. He's ready to go and ready to do his best this week."

He admitted the loss of Grix and Carney would change the balance of his team, but did not necessarily think it would weaken them.

"Each player that comes in changes the side and we will look at what each person does well and see what we would be able to exploit, just like we would for any other team," he said.

And Smith said he was eager to repeat his achievement at Leeds and end Warrington's long wait for silverware.

The Wolves' last trophy was the Regal Cup in 1991, and they have not won the Challenge Cup since 1974.

"Warrington is similar to Leeds because they hadn't won the championship for 32 years until we did it in 2004.

"If we can build the club and create a good working environment then we have more chance of success.

"I've been twice to the new Wembley as a spectator, and I'd like to go back as a coach."

While Smith contends with the loss of Carney, Noble is buoyed by the return of his skipper O'Loughlin.

"His chances are pretty good," said Noble.

"He'll only play if he's fully fit but he's taking part in training and we'll make a decision on Thursday or Friday.

"He did a bit of training last week and he's progressing well. He's a consummate professional and has due diligence in relation to his rehab.

"He's important to us and so it's important that we give him the best opportunity to play. He's a world-class player."

The clash also sees Wigan centre Martin Gleeson come up against his old Warrington team-mates.

One of those is close friend and Warrington captain Lee Briers who is yet to play in a Challenge Cup final.

Briers has endured a couple of near misses and Gleeson is more than prepared to inflict yet more heartbreak on his former team-mate.

"I've got a lot of good friends there, like Briersy, who have played for so long and never made the final," said Gleeson.

"He's desperate to play in the final. I don't want him to win but it's going to be tough after the game because one of us is going to Wembley and one isn't."

Gleeson moved to Wigan in April for £125,000 and has played for all four of this weekend's semi-finalists.

The 29-year-old was in the losing St Helens side at Murrayfield in 2002 and was a winner in Cardiff two years later - and has no doubt which pairing would make the best final.

"I know Warrington and Huddersfield will have something to say about it but a Wigan-Saints final would be great," he added

"The crowd would be equally spread and there'd be a great atmosphere.

"It would make the final a spectacle which I think no other teams could match."

Wigan (from): Roberts, Carmont, Richards, Leuluai, Fielden, Riddell, Paleaaesina, Bailey, O'Loughlin, J Tomkins, Coley, Hansen, Prescott, Pryce, C Phelps, M Gleeson, L Mossop, S Tomkins, Flanagan.

Warrington (from): L Anderson, V Anderson, Blythe, Bridge, Briers, Carvell, Clarke, Cooper, Harrison, Hicks, Johnson, King, Mathers, Mitchell, Monaghan, Morley, Rauhihi, Riley, Westwood.

Leeds boss Brian McClennan told

It is easy to understand that supporters and people around the club are excited about Tony Smith [Warrington coach] returning here, because he had so much success during his time here.

"But that is on the outside and will not matter once the game starts because you are then in a real battle.

"Both sides are playing nice attacking rugby league, so who knows what will happen.

"It will be very exciting, entertaining and a very good encounter between two determined teams."

Warrington forward Vinny Anderson told

It's a big game for us this weekend and Leeds have come off a loss so I know they'll be fired up for a big game as well.

"I think they've got a lot of players with good agility and also their pack is pretty solid so I think right across the field they're quite strong.

"We've got to put our heads down and focus on Leeds and continue to build. It's important at this time of the year to start hitting some form."

Warrington are without full-back Richie Mathers through suspension and the injured Jon Clarke and Mickey Higham.

But up to five players could return after injury - Adrian Morley, Paul Rauhihi, Simon Grix, Chris Hicks and Vinnie Anderson

Luke Adamson is hoping to feature for Salford despite having 24 stitches in an eye wound last week.

Ian Sibbit (quad) is also in contention but Rob Parker (fractured skull) is not yet ready to return.

Warrington Wolves coach Tony Smith told

I could go into the debate of too many games and whether it has a catch-up but injuries are part and parcel of our game.

"We'd like to find some form for our own sake, we've been a little bit off lately, for whatever the reasons and we'd like to get back in the form we're happy with.

"Salford have had some good wins not so long ago and they've had some tough games with some close results in recent times. I think they're right up to speed in Super League now.

Huddersfield Giants head coach Nathan Brown told

"As a whole the Warrington players are working hard together and that makes a big difference.

"They've always had the players with the ability to be a top-four side and now they have the work rate to match that.

"Tony [Smith] has obviously brought something a fraction different in that has helped the squad move forward."

Warrington head coach Tony Smith told

"The table shows Huddersfield are the third best team in Super League and that's where they sit and they deserve that at the moment.

"They've worked really hard. They've had their spells through the season where they've been very consistent, then they've had a few weeks where they've shown some inconsistency or have been below their own expectations.

"They fully deserve to be where they're at. It's up to the rest of us to knock them off that perch if we can."
